Here is what I have been doing for the past 20 years to gain experience to work with trauma.
1999-2001 Goodwill Welfare to Work Program.
2002-Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling at Maryville University.
2003-Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling to help individuals with barriers to employment and independent living find inclusion in society through accommodation, work adjustment, and advocacy.
2001-2011 Independence Center- help adults move towards independent living and employment through the social rehabilitative model of clubhouse. Persons with depression, schizophrenia, anxiety and more are considered clubhouse members who choose to work side by side with staff and everyone is "wanted, needed, and expected."
2010-Licensed as a Professional Counselor and worked as a Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) with the US military. Worked with the US Army, US Air force, and US Navy in the UK, Germany, Japan, and in the United States. Currently works with the Army and Air force National Guard on some weekends as an MFLC.
2019-Currently volunteer with Casa De Salude Mental Health on Tuesday mornings to work with undocumented persons, refugees and under insured individuals.
2022-Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) Body centered trauma therapy to work with PTSD from military service, developmental trauma, relationship trauma, and witnessed violence. This a body centered method to help resolve overwhelming traumatic events that have been experienced at anytime in life.
